AUGUST PIZZA PARTY Hungry investors enjoyed their fill of delicious pizza at GDREIA’s Third Wednesday meeting August 17, 2016. It was a great occasion to network and learn from others during the party, attended by 55 GDREIA members and guests. The “Buy Sell Trade” segment of the meeting with unusually active – with several members outlining purchase opportunities throughout the Dayton region. Attendees also had the chance to bid on five lots of books and recordings from the GDREIA Library, which is making room for new materials. The entertaining auction was run by commercial member Dave Murray, who has done this before – and brought smiles to faces around the room as he collected bids with his usual flair. Investors also learned about Montgomery County’s property valuation procedures – and how to appeal a valuation an owner deems to be too high. Montgomery county Auditor Karl Keith.
Explained the background of the property tax and how properties are evaluated over time. He also displayed graphs that documented the falling values of Montgomery County real estate during the years prior to the housing crisis and Great Recession.
