All About Dayton Water Service by Larry Hudson
Attendees at Greater Dayton REIA’s First Wednesday meeting for February (2/1/17) learned all about the City of Dayton’s water utility policies – including ways to avoid getting stuck with a large, uncollectable tenant water bill. The city’s water website allows tenants to make water payments directly (including via smartphone app), said LaShea Lofton, the City of Dayton’s finance director. The site also allows rental property owners to monitor tenant water accounts, including usage numbers and payment records, she said. Lofton also told the meeting property owners can call the water office to find out if tenants have fallen behind in payments or entered into payment agreements with the city. General information about water service in Dayton is available on DaytonWater.org, Lofton said. The account features, including online payment, are accessible at the Pay Dayton Water! link, she said. Future plans for the water service include new registration procedures for tenant water customers – collecting information for water accounts to make it easier to collect delinquent water account balances, Lofton said.
