SET YOUR GOALS NOW FOR 2017 By: Larry D. Hudson Greater Dayton REIA’s first meeting of 2017 (1/4/17) began at the beginning: in the words of presenter Sham Reddy, former Dayton REIA president, “It’s hard to hit reach a goal you don’t have.” Reddy, a Realtor and longtime member of our REIA, has given the first talk of the year at Greater Dayton REIA for several years running. It’s the ideal place to begin, Reddy said, because the transition to a new year gives investors (and everyone else) a great occasion to map out, in detail, where they’re going to do in the year ahead. Challenging goals “give you a reason to get up each morning,” he said. A dream without a deadline is just a dream, Reddy said, “but a dream with a deadline is a goal.” It’s important to break down large goals into daily activity you can monitor, he said. It’s also important to make sure the goals are ones you feel passionate about. “A goal given to you by your boss is not your goal. You have to buy in,” Reddy said. Whatever your important goals may be, he said, you can expect to be more successful in reaching them if you share them with the important people in your life, including members of your family, Reddy said. They can help hold you to account, he added. In the end, pursuing goals can help you, even when you don’t exactly reach the desired finish line. “It’s OK to aim at the stars and hit a bird,” Reddy said. Click Here for Pictures
