Here’s what you missed at GDREIA’s First Wednesday meeting (October 5, 2016): Nearly two dozen candidates for public office around the Miami Valley showed up to meet GDREIA investors and answer questions during Candidates’ Night. On hand were candidates for Ohio State Representative and Senate, Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, Juvenile Court Judge, Clerk of Courts and more. The candidates discussed questions of interest to investors including landlord liability for drug and criminal activity in rental properties and the current liability of landlords for unpaid tenant water bills. Bottom line: candidates are open to hearing about the issues, but at least on the water question, are not yet ready to commit to the investor position. The subject was taxes earlier in the evening. Longtime GDREIA commercial member David Murray, CPA held the floor and detailed some new wrinkles in the tax regulations at the federal, state and local level. “Sound complicated? It is,” he told the audience. “That’s why you should work with experts,” he added. Click Here for picture highlights
