Greater Dayton REIA is rapidly approaching its annual election – when members of the association choose candidates for the Greater Dayton REIA Board of Directors.
Here’s information on two candidates now in the running. As of this writing, these two candidates are running for three available seats on the board. Candidate S. Dean Rider sends this information:
Following the loss of my wife, I became more concerned about the financial future my children would experience. As a biologist I could never work hard enough to double or triple my income to match what we previously had. I knew almost nothing about finance or “The Great Material Continuum” so I began studying wealth and the flow of money. I first learned how to day trade penny stocks through Tim Sykes. I found that trading required a huge commitment of time in order to be successful, and the practice caused me a lot of anxiety. So, I looked into other income strategies. Robert Kiyosaki’s writings confirmed that I was an “Employee” and a “Poor Dad”, but provided hope that real estate investing might be able to fix both of those problems. I began naively searching for “an investor-friendly realtor” in the area when I stumbled across the Greater Dayton REIA website. I joined online in November 2015.
I have attended all but three of the general meetings since joining. There is no other place where I could have been exposed to so many new ideas and been spoon-fed such high quality information. In my view, GDREIA is an unbeatable community dedicated to education and fellowship.
I volunteered early on and transitioned into the OPHP chair position. I have been the OPHP chair for the past year. Even if I don’t know some of you very well, I probably know if you have been coming to the meetings. I really am monitoring attendance!
It took me more than a year to make the plunge, but I now have one rental property. It has increased my net worth, it will cash flow, and I know that there are ways I can find and finance even better deals in the future. GDREIA members and guest speakers made this possible. This community has helped me take my first steps into real estate investing, and I would like to continue to give back by serving as the GDREIA secretary.
